Dr M: ‘We will wait for more information’
(NST) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has yet to decide on action to be taken against its youth wing leader and Selangor assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah who was allegedly arrested for a drug related offence on Sunday.
Prime Minister and Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said: “We will wait for the full information before deciding (on the matter).
“We follow the rule of law, even if I break the law, I (will) go to jail,” he said when commenting on the alleged arrest of Adhif Syan.
It was reported that the Dengkil assemblyman, along with several ministerial special officers and others were detained during a raid at a condominium along Jalan Puchong.
Meanwhile, when asked if ex-Umno leaders would be allowed to contest in the upcoming party election, Dr Mahathir said while new members were generally not allowed to contest, exceptions would be granted based on circumstances.
“According to the rule, members (who joined less than a year ago) are not allowed to contest.
“But exceptions would be given to those who are not involved in crime,” said Dr Mahathir, without divulging the names of leaders who might contest in the party polls.
