Make no mistake about it, politicians run Malaysia

And that is why we are seeing what has been happening in Malaysia since GE14 happen. Gone are the pre-GE14 days when we had various branches of government — the Executive, the Legislature, the Judiciary, and the Monarchy, with an independent civil service. Today, Malaysia is being run like China where the entire country is run by the party and answers only to the party. The only difference is in China they know this but in Malaysia the people are too dumb to realise it.

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

If you are a fan of the 1980s British comedy series “Yes Minister” (and later “Yes, Prime Minister”) — which is a satire of what the real-life politician-civil servant relationship is like — you would appreciate how difficult it is for politicians to get the civil servants to toe the line. The civil servants always try to undermine their politician bosses.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, for example, was undermined by the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM), the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Bank Negara Malaysia, the Election Commission (SPR), etc. They all worked against him with the single motive of bringing him down.

Of course, they had to legitimise the coup and justify their actions by attributing their actions to revealing the truth regarding the 1MDB matter. But if abuse of power and corruption are the real reason, then Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Daim Zainuddin, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mukhriz Mahathir, Anwar Ibrahim, Azmin Ali, Lim Guan Eng, and hundreds of other politicians, past and present, would be sitting in jail this very minute.

Muhyiddin Yassin was Mahathir’s mole in the Cabinet who caused the most damage to Najib

In fact, since the 1980s, Lim Kit Siang had accused Mahathir, Daim and Anwar of corruption and abuse of power. In 1993, Kit Siang said Mahathir and Anwar should resign and both of them, together with Daim, should be sent to jail. Kit Siang called Mahathir the most corrupt Prime Minister in Malaysian history who is at par with Mugabe.

So, no, the coup against Najib had nothing to do with corruption or abuse of power. If it did they would not have appointed Mahathir as the Prime Minister, Daim as the head of the CEP, and Anwar as the PM-in-waiting (plus Mukhriz as the Kedah MB, Guan Eng as Finance Minister, etc.). You do not get rid of one so-called corrupt leader and appoint dozens of other corrupt leaders to replace him.

This is all about politics and the struggle for power. DAP was set up in 1965 to grab power from Umno and Barisan Nasional. PKR was set up in 1999 to oust Umno and Barisan Nasional. More recently, Amanah and Bersatu were set up for the same reason. Pakatan Harapan is about grabbing power from Umno and Barisan Nasional.

IGP Hamid Bador is Mahathir’s agent who decides who goes to jail and who escapes prosecution

And they managed to do this by undermining the Prime Minister. So, the only way they can oust the current Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan would be the same way they ousted Najib and Umno-Barisan Nasional, by undermining the Prime Minister.

That is why the first thing Mahathir did when he took power was to appoint politicians to run the various crucial government agencies.

The head of the police force, IGP Hamid Bador, is a politician. By his own confession he admitted he is Mahathir’s running dog and would die for Mahathir.

Latheefa Koya resigned from PKR on paper and will go back to the party once her stint with MACC is over

The head of the MACC, Latheefa Koya, is a politician. She is a PKR leader who resigned from the party “on paper” the day after she was appointed the head of the MACC. Once she is no longer the head of the MACC she will return to PKR as its leader. That was the arrangement.

The head of the Election Commission (SPR), the Attorney-General, the members of the CEP, and many more, are all Pakatan Harapan operatives.

In short, Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan made sure that all their people are appointed heads of the various branches of the government or civil service so that the pro-Pakatan Harapan politicians and not the civil service run Malaysia. That is the only way to prevent what happened to Najib and Umno-Barisan Nasional happen to Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan.

DAP’s Attorney-General, Tommy Thomas, has the power of life and death over 32 million Malaysians

The Malaysian civil service and the uniformed services are about 1.6 million strong. Hence, they are very dangerous to the government of the day if not controlled and put on a tight leash. Mahathir knows this because this was how they brought Najib and Umno-Barisan Nasional down. And that is why the government machinery cannot be allowed to be independent and instead Pakatan Harapan must directly have its fingers in all the pies.
