Why is DAP not helping Anwar?

This made Anwar even angrier. He wants Wan Azizah’s resignation to be conditional upon him taking over as DPM. If Wan Azizah resigns unconditionally, that would be too risky. And that would mean someone else will replace Wan Azizah as the new DPM. And with DAP staying “neutral” because of Guan Eng’s many corruption cases now under investigation, the game is not going too well for Anwar.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Have you noticed that Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng have been very silent regarding the Azmin-Haziq Semburit gay porn video? Normally that father-and-son team will always have something to say about everything. They will even preach to Muslims on how Islam should be practiced and how Muslims should be good Muslims. Even the Mufti of Perlis kalah. But, now, total silence.

Actually, while publicly Lim Senior, Lim Junior, and the rest of DAP may be very silent, behind the scenes they have been very active. Kit Siang has met up Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad a few times to try to get the matter resolved but has so far not met with any success.

Mahathir’s statements today (SEE BELOW) are more or less in response to the pressure he is being subjected to. Mahathir is telling DAP that he has made his decision on the matter. And his decision is he is not going to throw Azmin under the bus. Mahathir did say he is not defending Azmin. That is true. Mahathir is not defending Azmin. Mahathir is protecting himself.

The reason they want to eliminate Azmin is so that the field would be clear for Anwar to oust Mahathir. With Azmin acting as goalkeeper, it would be harder for Anwar to score. No doubt Anwar keeps screaming he has the numbers. But if he really did have the numbers then he would not merely be screaming, he would have made his move already.

This is another “16 September” boast. In 2008 Anwar also boasted he had the numbers and was going to take over the government on 16th September 2008. In the end nothing happened. Anwar loves playing poker with poor cards. In 1998, Anwar also boasted he has “six boxes” of evidence that can send Mahathir to jail for 100 years. Until today we are yet to see even one box of evidence, let alone six boxes.

That is Anwar for you. He loves boasting. But, in the end, he never delivers. Today we take over, tomorrow Najib Tun Razak is going to jail. Today we take over, tomorrow the petrol price will be RM1.50. Today we take over, tomorrow all highways will be toll-free. Today we take over, tomorrow the cost of living will be reduced to half. Today we take over, tomorrow no more GST and costs of goods and services will come down.

No, whenever Anwar opens his mouth it is very safe to bet he has nothing. He does not have these so-called numbers he claims he has. What Anwar was hoping for was for Azmin to be sacked and then he can tell Mahathir to move aside. But Mahathir refuses to sack Azmin. Instead, Mahathir is telling Anwar to go to hell.

Anwar wants DAP to come out publicly and pressure Mahathir to sack Azmin. But Kit Siang and Guan Eng have problems of their own. Mahathir has asked Latheefa Koya to reopen the files on the Penang undersea tunnel and on Guan Eng’s house. That is Mahathir’s warning to Kit Siang and Guan Eng that if they talk too much then Guan Eng might find himself in jail again. After all, Mahathir has already jailed Guan Eng once before for sedition. So, it can always happen again.

Meanwhile, Anwar is very agitated and is throwing tantrums. Anwar has become so impossible that even Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail can no longer live in the same house with him. Anwar is venting his frustration and anger on Wan Azizah and is using her as the punching bag.

Anwar asked Wan Azizah to meet Mahathir and to tell the old man she is prepared to resign to make way for her husband to take over as the new Deputy Prime Minister. Mahathir replied she can resign if she wants to but there is no guarantee Anwar will be taking over her post. Wan Azizah should resign first then Mahathir will think about who should take over.

This is one way of shutting up Kit Siang and Guan Eng
