DAP’s Boo calls on Dr M to resign for devaluing Pakatan manifesto
(The Star) – A Johor DAP committee member has openly called for Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign for belittling Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto and promises.
Dr Boo Cheng Hau (pic), who is a former Skudai assemblyman prior to GE14, said this was evident based on Dr Mahathir’s statement that Pakatan’s manifesto was not a Bible but only guidelines.
“This shows that Dr Mahathir has no confidence in himself and in the Pakatan’s manifesto, and hence he should take full individual responsibility and resign as our leader and Prime Minister of the country,” he said.
Dr Boo also said it was foolish for some Pakatan leaders to say that there would not have been any change of government without Dr Mahathir’s leadership.
“Leaders who have made such unfounded and misleading statements have admitted their incompetence and should, likewise, step down from all their official positions.
“I am feeling blessed that I was not fielded as a candidate in the last general election because I never accepted Dr Mahathir’s leadership,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 19).
Dr Boo, who is also a former state DAP chairman, also criticised Pakatan ally, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, for accepting former Barisan Nasional and Umno elected representatives.
He said the country needed a healthy, competitive bi-coalition system to make institutional reforms work.
“It will be a backward move if the elected representatives are encouraged to cross over from Barisan to Pakatan.
“The most worrying thing is that no one knows what are the secret agendas and under-table deals that might have happen,” Dr Boo said, adding that this contradicted Pakatan’s basic principles and promises to create good governance.
