Irfan vents frustration at Sports Ministry

(NST) – National discuss thrower Irfan Shamsuddin has taken the Sports Ministry to task for its lack of direction of late.

Irfan, a three-time Sea Games and a national record holder, wants to know why his coach’s contract has not been renewed.

He also questioned the reason his plans to train abroad was not approved.

He vented his frustration on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

” (I) just want to ask u (Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman), first you dissolved the Podium (Programme).

“Then my coach’s contract was terminated after I broke the national record 13 times, won three Sea Games titles and achieved a silver at the Asian Championships with the same trainer who has been with me for six years.

“You want athletes to record good results, but you terminated my coach’s contract.

“What is actually your vision and mission?

Several other athletes are also unhappy with the current management of sports due to budget cuts.
