Malays are not God’s chosen people

One thing is very true regarding the criticism of Umno. Umno (just like MCA, MIC and Gerakan) is not just a political party. It is a business empire. It owns hundreds of billions. Some even say it is more than one trillion (no one really knows the real figure). But these billions or trillions are all hidden under the names of trustees, proxies and nominees. And that is why Mahathir is doing what he is doing. He is conducting a salvage operation to recover wealth from a shipwreck named Umno, figure of speech that is.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Some people may be confused by the many conflicting sounds coming out from Pakatan Harapan. But it is not really that confusing. Amidst the many sounds is just one very crystal-clear message. And that message is the Malays are not God’s chosen people.

This is the New Malaysia.

The era of subsidies is over.

You cannot get something for nothing, you need to work to be rewarded.

Malay rights do not exist in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia.

Malaysia is ranked the 8th worst country in the world in freedom of thought.

Malaysia must sign the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The New Malaysia is the era of Bangsa Malaysia.

MCA must leave Barisan Nasional to gain back Chinese support because most of the Chinese despise Umno.

Umno represents racism.

Ketuanan Melayu is apartheid.

Umno leaders are arrogant and abusive in their language.

90% of the personal income tax is paid by the Chinese.

Malays would still be living in trees if the Chinese had not come to Malaya and developed the country 200 years ago.

Malays do not own the country, they are pendatang just like the Chinese, Indians and others.

Malaysians must be told how much it costs to maintain the nine state rulers and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The end of Umno means the end of everything that Umno stands for, Ketuanan Melayu and the NEP being just two of them

Those are amongst some of the many sounds coming out from Pakatan Harapan. And the message is: now that Umno is no longer in power, the special position of the Malays and the Raja-Raja Melayu is going to come to an end and the two-tiered Bumiputera/non-Bumiputera status is going to be replaced with the single-status Bangsa Malaysia.

Pakatan Harapan represents the New Malaysia and the New Malaysia represents equality and an end to the special position of the Malays and Islam. It also represents an end to subsidies, Bumiputera discounts, and quotas.

The New Malaysia will be a level playing field and survival of the fittest. This is nature’s way of weeding out the weak and allowing the strong to thrive.

Western societies are superior because the strong wiped out the weak over thousands of years. When the weak are protected from the strong, like in Malaysia, then the entire society becomes weak, like what is happening to the Malay society.

Mahathir wanted to end the NEP in 1990 but had to postpone it because of the challenge by Semangat 46

The Chinese pay 90% of the personal income tax not because Malays avoid paying tax but because the Chinese earn more money than the Malays. Most Malays are salaried workers — or farmers, fishermen and land settlers — hence they do not have much taxable income.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had already warned the Malays back in 1983 that the New Economic Policy (NEP) would end in 1990 as scheduled and that there would be no extension beyond the agreed 1990 date.

But then in 1988 Umno suffered an internal crisis and in 1990 Umno faced a serious challenge from Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and his Semangat 46 in the general election that year (in fact, Kelantan fell to the opposition). So, Mahathir had no choice but to extend the NEP beyond 1990 or else suffer defeat in the general election.

The next deadline to end the NEP was 2000. But then Umno did very badly in the 1999 general election (this time Terengganu fell to the opposition as well, while Kedah almost fell) so Mahathir, yet again, had to delay the ending of the NEP beyond 2000.

The Malays are no longer God’s chosen people in the New Malaysia of Pakatan Harapan

But now Umno is out of power and it no longer matters what happens to the party. In fact, the Registrar of Societies (RoS) can deregister Umno any time they want to. Umno is still alive at the pleasure of the RoS and/or Mahathir. Hence the NEP, Malay special privileges, the special position of the Malays, Malay quotas, and so on, are no longer crucial to Mahathir’s survival or to the survival of his party, PPBM, and Pakatan Harapan.

The end of Umno means the end of everything that Umno stands for. Since Mahathir took over Umno 37 years ago in 1981, the party is estimated to be worth hundreds of billions. And that is why PPBM needs to swallow Umno. If Umno is allowed to live then PPBM cannot get its hands on these hundreds of billions that Umno owns.

But the hundreds of billions are not in Umno’s name. They are in the names of trustees, proxies and nominees (Najib Tun Razak and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi being just two of Umno’s many trustees, proxies and nominees). This was the new system which Mahathir and Daim Zainuddin set up when Umno Baru was created in 1988 — to prevent the assets from falling into the ‘wrong’ hands.

That is why these trustees, proxies and nominees need to be ‘investigated’ by the MACC and PDRM. This is so that the fear of God can be put into these people and they will settle their cases ‘out of court’ by handing over to Mahathir and/or PPBM the billions they are holding on behalf of Umno.

Join Pakatan Harapan and you will be spared jail, says the Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai

Join Pakatan Harapan and you will not be investigated, said the Pakatan Harapan Member of Parliament for Lembah Pantai. But then if you are one of Umno’s trustees, proxies or nominees you also need to hand over everything you are holding on behalf of Umno. And negotiations are being held in the background even as you read this for the handing over to be done to avoid a jail sentence.
