PPBM may boycott Port Dickson

(The Star) – Kapar MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid should apologise to all Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia members for alleging there was a ploy led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to prevent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming prime minister.

Port Dickson Pribumi coordinator Ramli Awang said if Abdullah refuses to do so, he should refrain from campaigning for Anwar in the coming by-election here.

“His claim that Dr Mahathir and Tun Daim (Zainudin) were behind a plan to stop Anwar from becoming prime minister has hurt our feelings.

“He should rightfully apologise to Pribumi members for making such a baseless claim,” he told a press conference here Friday.

Ramli added that if Abdullah Sani still insisted on campaigning for Anwar, then Pribumi members may not come out to vote as a sign of protest.

“We do not wish to do that because we fully support Anwar’s decision to contest here.

“But Abdullah needs to apologise first,” he said.

Pribumi has some 2,000 members in Port Dickson.

Abdullah Sani had claimed that Dr Mahathir and the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chief Daim were among those scheming to prevent Anwar from becoming prime minister.

The PKR central executive committee member added that several parties, who had “wronged” Anwar previously, were again conspiring to deny him the premiership.

Abdullah Sani made the accusation on Aug 12 in Seremban when campaigning for Rafizi Ramli, who is contesting the deputy president’s post in the PKR polls.

However, Anwar later claimed that Dr Mahathir was not behind any such plot and advised Abdullah Sani not to repeat the allegation.

Abdullah Sani then apologised to Dr Mahathir.
