Kit Siang, tell Parliament what you told Parliament in 1994

The Third Force

Kit Siang, stop asking Najib to explain stuff (see news item below) and start doing some explaining of your own.

For a start, you can help explain to parliament the reason you’re no longer interested in an RCI into the nineties forex scandal.

I’m sure the good ol’ chaps in Parliament would be more than interested to hear the speech you made in the Dewan Rakyat 25 years ago.

Back then, you told the lower house that the scandal had “humiliated” government officials and “harmed our reputation” within “international monetary circles.”

You even told the Dewan a year later that the losses Bank Negara suffered, which, according to you, was worth more than RM30 billion, were “extraordinary” by “any international accounting standards.”

So it seems apt that you should now explain to the house what you’re doing with the very man under whose watch that money was lost.

So why ask Najib to explain stuff when you yourself have a lot of explaining to do?
