1MDB probe: MACC urges holders of 408 bank accounts to surrender funds
(Sun Daily) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) urged the holders of the 408 bank accounts that were frozen in connection with the 1MDB probe to voluntarily surrender funds they had received from the scandalous state-owned investment arm or face action.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said today that the account holders should come forward and meet investigators at the soonest.
“If they come to meet us, we will show them the proof of them receiving such funds. They will have to return the funds as it belongs to the rakyat. If they fail to do so, then we will use the law to recover the money,” he told reporters here after launching a book titled Corruption and Crime in Malaysia by Transparency International President Datuk Akhbar Satar.
