Robert Kuok issue raised to help Guan Eng, says MCA
“Nazri’s over-reaction and verbal abuse is not about Robert Kuok or MCA. He is helping his buddy Lim Guan Eng to divert the Penang Tunnel gate issue,” Ti told Berita Daily.
(Berita Daily) – The arrogance of DAP leaders such as Lim Guan Eng in continuously nit-picking on MCA is due to the support and protection they are getting from some of their cronies in Umno, said MCA spokesperson Ti Lian Ker today.
Pointing to the numerous occasions that Lim and other DAP leaders had ridiculed MCA, Ti said it was becoming very apparent that they are getting bolder and brutal because they are prepared to work with anybody, including cronies from Umno, except MCA.
In an apparent reference to the incessant demand by Lim to get MCA to demand Tourism Minister Nazri Aziz to apologise for calling tycoon Robert Kuok a “pondan”, Ti asserted that Lim knew that the Umno supreme council member would not apologise as his master was Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
DAP had failed to obtain Mahathir’s apologies for all his past travesty of justices and abuses despite Mahathir needing their support now, he said.
“Nazri’s over-reaction and verbal abuse is not about Robert Kuok or MCA. He is helping his buddy Lim Guan Eng to divert the Penang Tunnel gate issue,” Ti told Berita Daily.
“It is because of such political backing from Nazri that DAP and Lim are so brave, courageous and arrogant in their blatant denial, and on their refusal to account to the public and their recalcitrant stand against any queries on the Penang tunnel scandal.
“We will also see in time that Lim does have some Umno cronies who are backing and protecting him. The facts will show and the truth will prevail in time,” he added.
He said MCA was coming under attack as the party was being seen as a thorn in the flesh of some big-time interest or “scam” in Penang.
“In time we will see some of the Umno personalities involved in the Penang tunnel scandal surfacing and these are people who are working on their private interest,” he said.
Ti said that Umno personalities who hurled verbal abuses at MCA and the Chinese community do not represent Umno or BN.
He said that MCA would not back down from exposing the scandals in Penang, especially the one involving the tunnel project, even if it means the party would be subjected to more attacks.
“There are politicians that may want to make MCA seem racist and anti-Malay…but the bottom line is, they are doing this for their personal interest and some are for their affiliation with DAP and Lim,” he said.
Nazri will cost us votes
He, however, added that it was different in the case of Nazri.
“He is an exception. It is clear that the Umno supreme council member is very close to Lim and he had never failed to deny that.
“He even openly said that DAP was the real representative of the Chinese community, and not MCA. How can he say that to undermine a fellow BN partner?”
“His actions will surely cost us votes in the GE14. But we are fighting for the truth, and for the community.
“MCA will continue to fight on and walk with our head held up irrespective of whether we have the votes or not,” said the MCA religious harmony bureau chief.
He added that MCA was not a populist party but was steadfast in what it believed in.
Ti also responded to Nazri’s reported remarks that he (Nazri) only attacked MCA after the party, especially its Padang Rengas division, had boycotted him in the last elections.
“We are a moderate party. If Nazri failed to obtain the support of MCA in Padang Rengas, then he must reflect on himself and not past the buck to MCA as a whole,” he said.
