We would sue Raja Petra if not for his ‘sanctuary’, says Patriot
(TMI) – If not for his “sanctuary” in Britain, the National Patriots Association (Patriot) would take Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin to court for spreading fake news, said its president Brig-Gen (R) Mohamed Arshad Raji.
“He knows he is in safe sanctuary in Britain. Otherwise, if back home, he will face the fury of legal pursuit,” said Arshad in a statement today.
In his portal, Raja Petra had written about Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok channelling funds to DAP. Arshad said the “evidence for his assertion was a few photos of James Kuok (his nephew acting as a middleman) and some politicians dining in his restaurant.”
“Who dined with and donated to whom is not of our concern as long as it is in the confines of the law.
“But to spew fake news and hatred, instigate distrust with intent to divide the people, we Patriots will speak up for the common good of our people and country,” he said.
Arshad said it was worse that politicians were using this unproven information to spur further racial sentiments, confusion and hatred to divide Malaysians.
“We abhor the unsubstantiated opinion pieces by RPK and consider them fake news.
“The manner in which the articles were written is one of a master propagandist with an evil intent. A very unprincipled person.”
He added that Raja Petra had also published a lie about Patriots receiving millions from former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad through Gani Patail.
“Patriots again call on all politicians to commit to clean politicking, to campaign on issues, and not to employ dirty campaign to divide the people.
“When (the 14th general election) is over, we have much to do to unite all Malaysian people. Otherwise with the impending world economic uncertainty, rising global interest rate, imminent hyperinflation or stagflation, all within a shrinking economic pie; without unity we will be doomed,” he said.
