PPBM claims malicious ploy behind RoS probe over AGM
(MMO) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) today claimed of a plot behind complaints that the party had violated its own constitution.
Party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin believed that those who lodged the reports may have been current PPBM members or non-members who are unhappy with the party.
“If it’s our (PPBM) members, they may have a malicious agenda due to various factors such as not getting posts and so on.
“Some of these people also want to deny the movement by Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad which they see as a growing threat,” he said at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) media conference at the Johor PPBM headquarters in Kempas here today.
Muhyiddin, who is also PH deputy president and the Opposition pact’s Johor chairman, said this in response to a question that the Registrar of Societies (RoS) are investigating complaints filed by PPBM members that the party had breached its own constitution.
Muhyiddin said that PPBM had already submitted a comprehensive report on the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) to the RoS a few days ago.
“PPBM being a new party have complied with the RoS’ rules and regulations, but needed instructions and guidance to resolve any issues,” he said, adding that the party’s leaders and members are law abiding.
On the action by the PPBM leadership if the reports to RoS were falsely made by individuals with ill intent, Muhyiddin said the party will discuss the matter with lawyers if such claims were found to be true.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that on Tuesday the RoS had received 249 complaints from PPBM members to date, and that the RoS was obliged to look into all of them.
Zahid, who is also Home Minister, added 47 out of the 249 complaints lodged claimed that the party had violated its constitution, as well as rules and regulations.
This comes after a group of PPBM members alleged that the RoS was deliberately delaying its investigations yesterday. They also claimed that documents presented as evidence had gone missing.
