I am clearly not supporting Azmin, says Khalid amid questions on political stance
(MMO) – Former Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today he would not support his successor, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, in the 14th general election.
“What is clear is that I am not supporting YB Gombak (Azmin) because he will make Selangor people lose more than RM2 billion in the Selangor water restructuring deal,” Khalid wrote on his Facebook page.
His comments were a response to Azmin asking Khalid, who was MB between 2008 and 2014, to make up his mind about his political idealism ahead of the next elections, as the latter had vowed to help both PAS and Umno in the next election campaign.
“It is my right who I want to support,” Khalid said.
PKR sacked Khalid in 2014 when he refused to step down as MB after he lost the backing of his party.
He was eventually replaced by Azmin, who was the biggest critic during Khalid’s administration.
Khalid has not joined any other party since leaving PKR, operating as an independent member in both the Selangor state assembly and Parliament, but has been consistent in his criticism of Azmin’s administration.
Last week, he declared that he would help PAS in their campaign, but at the same time, made an appearance at the Selangor Umno meet at the end of last year and pledged to help Umno in the state.
