Politicians allegedly received kickbacks in Penang tunnel project, sources say

(The Star) – Several politicians were believed to have received kickbacks from the awarding of the feasibility studies for the Penang undersea tunnel.

“At this stage, the investigators are finding out how the misconduct happened and how the payment took place.

“It is believed that this could be related to the two land swaps as payment for the feasibility studies,” said the sources, adding that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will be calling in a few more witnesses over its probe.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki declined to comment.
