Umno Youth number 2 dares Dr M to reveal all to cops
(FMT) – Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun says former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad should let the police decide on whether his actions to “overthrow the government” is legal or illegal.
“I dare Mahathir to reveal to the police all that he has done and planned to do to bring down the prime minister.
“Let the authorities decide whether his actions are legal or illegal,” he said in a statement today.
Khairul was responding to the PPBM chairman calling him a “stupid boy”, over the police report filed by Umno Youth on Tuesday accusing Mahathir of wanting to instigate Malaysians to topple the present government through non-democratic means.
Yesterday, the opposition leader had dismissed the police report, saying “all over the world people overthrow the government. I’m not instigating anything. All I’m saying is, when a government is bad, overthrow it.”
Khairul said resorting to name calling shows that “Mahathir is clearly unsettled”.
“Who is Mahathir to think that he has the right to overthrow the prime minister?
“It is clear that he has a personal agenda to make (his son) Mukhriz the deputy prime minister,” Khairul said, referring to a claim levelled against Mahathir by senior Umno leaders in the past.
“At least I am no Mukhriz whose political future relies on his father.”
Khairul also alluded to another police report he had filed on July 27, 2016, against former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed and former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, over an alleged conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“Mahathir is frustrated with me because I preempted his move in July 2016 and here again Umno Youth also pre-empted his move in January 2018,” Khairul said.
