Former DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim is urging DAP’s leader Lim Kit Siang to respond to claims he wants to be prime minister, and to stop hiding behind his Malay counterparts.
According to New Straits Times, Tunku Aziz repeated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement, in his winding-up speech at the Umno general assembly on Saturday, that Kit Siang is eyeing the top post should the opposition win in the next general election.
“Kit Siang must come forward and respond to the statement himself. He should not again hide behind a Malay, which he is prone to doing,” the English daily quoted Tunku Aziz’s statement.
He said both Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, despite being backed by the opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan as candidates for Prime Minister, are not Members of Parliament, which thus disqualified them from the top post.
“The Prime Minister was right to say that Kit Siang wants to be Prime Minister. That is why he never gave up his top position and control of DAP.
