IGP: Probe into MACC chief’s alleged affair ongoing
IGP Mohamad Fuzi Harun denied that the police were not doing anything on the matter, saying that the investigating papers were sent twice, first on Oct 17 and again on Oct 30, to the AGC, but both times the papers were returned for further action.
(FMT) – The police have already sent their investigation papers into the alleged extra-marital affair implicating Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad, to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohamad Fuzi Harun denied that the police were not doing anything on the matter, saying that the investigating papers were sent twice, first on Oct 17 and again on Oct 30, to the AGC, but both times the papers were returned for further action.
“There are many follow-ups we have to do before sending the papers back again,” he told reporters after visiting the Special Action Unit (UTK) training centre in Cheras here today.
Fuzi also told the public not to worry over how the police carried out their investigation.
“We know how to do our job,” he said when asked if the police had recorded Dzulkifli’s statement.
A video had surfaced last month, allegedly showing Dzulkifli holding hands with a married woman and entering a restaurant in Bali, Indonesia.
The video was said to have been taken in July this year.
Another video clip showed flight tickets, hotel registration papers and footage of the couple and luggage being moved out of a hotel.
Dzulkifli previously responded to the alleged scandal by calling it “dirty and disgusting attacks” by people whom he did not identify.
Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo had questioned the lack of police action against high-ranking officials involved in crime.
“The IGP is silent on the matter, the attorney-general is silent and MACC is silent and does not want to answer if he (the MACC chief) is the one in the video,” he asked.
Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali said the AGC had formed a task force to monitor the investigation on Dzulkifli under Section 498 of the Penal Code for enticing or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a married woman.
Meanwhile, Fuzi said the police had also submitted its investigation papers into the controversial Islamic preacher Zamihan Mat Zin to the AGC and are awaiting instructions.
Zamihan was investigated for sedition for allegedly criticising the Johor Sultan and making derogatory remarks against the Chinese community.
The alleged seditious statements were made at a religious talk at Masjid Tengku Ampuan Jemaah in Shah Alam last month and uploaded on YouTube.
