Foreigners using Malay proxies to buy prime land in Malaysia, says Dr Mahathir

(TMI) – FOREIGN entities are buying land in Malaysia through Malays as proxies, who would supposedly Bumiputera-owned companies.

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said in his latest blog post that Malays looking to make easy money would lend their name to be a top executive, like a director and or chief executive officer, of a company.

He said these entities had billions of ringgit at their disposal, and Malay land owners who refused to sell would be offered high prices so that they would agree to part with their property.

The proxy Malays who lent their names to the companies would also be handsomely rewarded.

“The (foreign) owners of the company would present millions of ringgit as a gift to the person who lent his name to enable the company to be registered as a locally owned BUmiputera company.”

Dr Mahathir, who now heads the opposition Pakatan Harapan coalition, appeared to take a swipe at Putrajaya’s recent figures on rising wages when he said these millionaire proxies would raise the per capita income of Malays.

“This about it, if one person out of 1,000 Malays is a millionaire, the per capita income for each of the other 999 Malays who do not have an income would be RM1,000.

“This is how Malays become rich and raise their per capita income.”

He said despite this new wealth, the situation would lead to Malays and people of other races in the country not owning any more land,

“Including TRX (Tun Razak Exchange in Kuala Lumpur), Sungai Besi, Malacca, Kuantan, Johor, Langkawi, (and) Kedah, valuable land is no longer owned by citizens. They are now owned by another country.”

The examples the former prime minster listed are projects where companies from China are the developers or are key investors. Most big Chinese firms that actively investing overseas are linked to the government, and are seen around the world as an extension of Beijing’s foreign and economic policy.

“But it’s okay. Malays and other citizens are now rich. At least part of the RM1 billion debt can be repaid.”

Dr Mahathir, who is on campaign to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak in the next general election,  said Malaysians, especially Malays, can look on with pride that Malaysia had become a developed nation filled with skyscrapers even though they lived in zinc-roofed shacks in squatter colonies.

“Wealth derived from lending your name actually will not last. And Malays will return to living on the edge of the jungle, far from the skyscrapers that filled what was once Malay land.”

Dr Mahathir cited the lease of Singapore to the British in 1819 as an example of what could happen if land was signed away to foreign entities.

“Not  only is the land no longer ours, but national laws and funds that are not used, are they still ours?

“When we have sold all of our land, is Malaysia still ours?

“Therefore, support Najib, the Malay thug, thief  and pirate.”
