MACC: FIC hotel probe ongoing, don’t speculate
(Bernama) – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has told people not to speculate about Felda Investment Corporation’s (FIC) purchase of a four-star hotel in Kensington, London, as the case is still under investigation.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operation) Azam Baki said the agency was in the midst of collecting evidence from foreign parties allegedly involved in the hotel purchase.
“This includes statements from the lawyer and seller (of the property in London),” he told Bernama.
Azam said MACC had also finished taking statements and obtaining documents from local parties, and that Felda had fully cooperated during the process.
He said MACC however would not disclose details of the ongoing investigations, and that no one should make any speculations on the matter.
Azam said this when asked to comment on the allegation made by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli that the hotel did not belong to FIC as it was owned by another company.
On Tuesday, Felda denied that FIC had set up any new company in London, as alleged by the opposition.
Its chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad said Rafizi had made a serious allegation in saying that FIC had established a new company on Oct 17.
