(The Star) – Parti Amanah Negara communications director Khalid Samad has threatened legal action against those who have accused him of “worshipping a chicken” in a Chinese New Year video by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

The video features appearances by Khalid, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli and jailed Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s second daughter, Nurul Nuha.

Shortly after the video was released, certain individuals accused Khalid of “worshipping” the chicken in the clip.

Acknowledging that the blog posting in which the allegation surfaced has since been deleted, the Shah Alam MP said that he would nevertheless continue with legal action.

“To me, even though the posting has been removed, it does not mean that the person can escape prosecution,” he said at Wisma Amanah Negara on Monday.

Khalid said that he will discuss with his lawyers on the next course of action.

“Although it was directed against me, all those involved in the video are also affected including Teresa, Rafizi, the Chinese community and others in the video,” said Khalid.

He said that he will give those responsible the chance to apologise through their blog and Facebook accounts but if they refuse to do so, he will continue with his civil suit.
