You’re either with us or with BN, Amanah leader tells PAS
(MMO) – PAS has until end of the year to join the Pakatan Harapan pact or be counted as a nemesis allied with Barisan Nasional (BN), Penang Amanah chief Datuk Mujahid Yusof Rawa said today.
“If they don’t want to join us, we will consider them as allies of Barisan Nasional because any parties that are not aligned with us will be seen as benefiting BN,” he told a press conference at the Penang Digital Library here.
Mujahid also said Pakatan Harapan is optimistic that new Umno splinter Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) will be part of their alliance by then.
“We will be having the Pakatan Harapan presidential meeting on December 14 so we will wait for a decision from Bersatu then and we feel it will be a positive decision from them,” he said, referring to PPBM.
When asked if Amanah will contest in the sole state seat held by PAS in Penang, Mujahid said his party is very keen interest to contest in Permatang Pasir.
“Of course we will have great interest to contest there because PAS is not a member of Pakatan Harapan,” the Parit Buntar MP said.
He said even though the current PAS assemblymen for Permatang Pasir, Datuk Salleh Man, is Pakatan Harapan-friendly, his party isn’t.
“It’s not about Salleh Man and how nice the people are but a matter a policy as the party is not our partner now,” Mujahid said.
Amanah is a splinter of PAS, formed last year by a group of rebels that lost in the conservative Islamist party’s elections in June 2015.
