Nizar’s remark was his own view and not Amanah’s
Amanah sec-gen distances himself from former Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin’s “divine intervention” remark, but urges people to not read too much into it.
(FMT) – The statement by Nizar Jamaluddin that the Kuala Kangsar by-election was “divine intervention” to teach BN a lesson for the 2009 Perak menteri besar crisis, is his personal opinion, and does not reflect Amanah’s stance.
Amanah Secretary-General Anuar Tahir said Nizar’s statement should not be misinterpreted.
“While the statement is his personal view and does not represent Amanah’s, it would be unfair to call him arrogant for his remark. It is up to individual interpretation.
“Most probably some people do not agree with him (Nizar), sometimes it is simply the case of slip of the tongue. People must not exaggerate it,” he said.
Last Monday, while campaigning at Kampung Sayong Lembah in Perak, Nizar said the Kuala Kangsar poll was “divine intervention” to teach Prime Minister Najib Razak and his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a lesson, for their roles in the 2009 MB crisis.
The crisis saw the fall of the then Pakatan Rakyat-led state government, which also happened in Kuala Kangsar, before being replaced by BN.
BN leaders have slammed Nizar over the statement.
Anuar is however confident that Nizar’s statement and the ensuing backlash would not affect Amanah’s chances in the poll on June 18.
