Suspend Azmin, Rafizi, Tian Chua for betraying ‘cause’, activist tells PKR chief
(MMO) – PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail must take immediate action against party leaders who have “betrayed” the people’s desire for change by working with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, social activist Abdul Razak Ismail said today.
Abdul Razak who is part of a group of activists calling themselves Otai Reformasi demanded PKR deputy president and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, and vice- presidents Rafizi Ramli and Chua Tian Chang be suspended from their posts.
“When we see the PKR leaders working with Mahathir and his lackeys, it is a form of betrayal and sabotage against the PKR president,” he told a news conference here.
“Speaking for myself, I urge for Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, as the president of the party, to take action by suspending the posts of Azmin Ali, Rafizi Ramli and Tian Chua for betraying the cause,” added the DAP member.
The press conference was jointly called by groups Otai Reformis, Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM), PAHLAWAN, and several individual activists critical of Dr Mahathir’s prominent role in the Save Malaysia movement.
SAMM chairman Badrul Hisham Shaharin warned other activists and political groups against working with Dr Mahathir in seeking reforms, citing the longest-serving ex-PM as “part of the broken system”, and claiming he is only hijacking the people’s sentiment for change in the system to fulfill his own agenda.
“How long must the country continue to be in conflict over the political desires of Mahathir,” he said.
“The country is on the verge of change, and allowing the mood of the people to be used by Mahathir will only cause it to fail,” Badrul Hisham added.
Dr Mahathir, together with politicians from both sides of the divide and civil society leaders, launched the Citizens’ Declaration on March 4 to push for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s resignation.
Their group was later dubbed the Save Malaysia movement and plans to organise a nationwide roadshow to canvas for support have been announced.
Dr Wan Azizah however recently revealed to Malay Mail Online that Dr Mahathir’s continued attacks on her husband and former opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was the main reason why she refused to be part of Save Malaysia.
