Cops question seller for three hours over Guan Eng’s house buy

(Malay Mail Online) – Businesswoman Phang Li Koon (pic) who sold her house to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at RM2.8 million was questioned by police for over three hours today over the controversial issue.

Phang arrived at the Northeast district police headquarters here about 9.40am in a tinted black car and straightaway met with the police without speaking to reporters waiting outside.

She was accompanied by an unknown person, believed to be her lawyer, and had her statement recorded.

Phang exited the police premises at about 1pm, again without stopping to speak to reporters.

Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed that the police recorded her statement today without elaborating.

This morning, Penang Umno Youth also lodged another police report over this issue casting suspicion over business links between a local government councillor, Tan Chiew Choon, and Phang.

Penang Umno Youth deputy chief Jasmin Noordin claimed that the councillor for Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is a senior manager in Winbond Management and Consultant Sdn Bhd, as stated in his profile.

“It is interesting that Phang is a 20 per cent shareholder of Winbond Management while the 80 per cent shareholder is a Tang Yong Chew,” he said.

He claimed that Tang is also a 70 per cent shareholder of Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre (KLIDC), the company that bought the Taman Manggis land.

“Therefore, we are lodging this police report and handing over the relevant documents to the police to investigate the links between Tan, Phang and Tang,” he said.

Politicians from the state Barisan Nasional opposition coalition have been linking Lim’s purchase of the house in Pinhorn Road to the sale of state land to KLIDC some years back.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency is also investigating the case after numerous reports have been lodged against Lim.
