Bahri denies ‘open and bitter war’ with MACC chief

(The Star) – Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) special operations director Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin (pic) is denying that an “open and bitter war” has broken out between him and chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.

In a statement on Monday, Bahri denied allegations made by Raja Petra Kamarudin on a portal that he had nearly come to blows with Abu Kassim over the SRC International case and the RM2.6bil issue.

Bahri denied all other accusations made by in article and said that he had made a police report on it in Putrajaya on Sunday.

“Yes, I have made a police report. I hope that the investigation will clear my name and the MACC’s,” he said.

In the police report, Bahri said the article’s claims were malicious accusations and was slanderous.

“The allegation that I am also a DAP agent and want to bring down Umno is also slander which aims to tarnish my name and reputation as an MACC officer.

“My actions during my time with the MACC were carried out professionally according to laws and regulations and in order to defend its freedom,” he said.

Bahri also said that he was confident that the chief commissioner and MACC heads had always defended its officers who upheld the transparency and freedom of the Commission and had acted fairly and professionally.

Raja Petra had claimed there as “internal power struggle” within the MACC between Bahri and Abu Kassim over the investigations.
