Azmin: Local council seat allocations for Amanah is final

(Malay Mail Online) – The allocation of eight local council seats for Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in Selangor is final, state Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said today despite the newly-formed party’s dissatisfaction.

According to news portal The Malaysian Insider, Azmin said that all relevant parties had agreed to the eight-seat allocation.

“The decision is final and will not change. The representatives of parties involved have discussed this, and agreed to the arrangement, so we take it as the issue is resolved,” he was quoted saying in Shah Alam.

He reportedly said the appointed councillors must take the opportunity to serve the people and said that this was not the time for “competition”.

Amanah had initially demanded 24 local council seats in the state.

Malay Mail Online reported yesterday that Amanah is not content with the eight seats offered, moreover as they were offered in semi-urban and semi-rural areas.

The seats were in the Sepang, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor district and municipal councils.
