Kit Siang: DAP will sue ‘senior political leader’ over Israeli base claims
(The Star) – DAP will sue a senior politician over allegations that the party was offered RM1.2 billion in exchange for the construction of an Israeli naval base in Port Dickson, says Lim Kit Siang (pic).
In a blog post on Saturday, Lim hit out at the unnamed “senior political leader”, over his claim that that a huge sum was offered for the construction of an Israeli naval base in the event DAP wins the next general election.
“Senior political leaders from other political parties who lied about the DAP, like the one who made the preposterous allegation about the DAP being offered RM1.2bil in exchange for an Israeli naval base in Port Dickson, will have to pay the heavy price for such baseless and reckless allegations in the courts,” he said.
The DAP adviser added that he expects party lawyers to initiate legal proceedings within a day or two.
“All political leaders must learn the hard lesson that they cannot just get away with lies or the most preposterous allegations, or seek refuge for their nefarious and dastardly deeds by claiming they were merely recycling such lies and falsehoods by ‘men of straw’ or some insubstantial characters!” he said.
Last week, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) had lashed out at DAP for questioning the Government’s decision to disallow Israeli sailors from taking part in the Youth Sailing World Championship in Langkawi.
On Dec 26, Perak DAP economy bureau chief Chong Zhemin had accused Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin for acting based on political and personal sentiment in international sporting events.
Chong argued that sports should transcend political boundaries and abstain from politics.
