1MDB raid part of special task force probe
(The Star) – Police have confirmed they are raiding the 1MDB office in Jalan Sultan Ismail as part of the special task force investigations into the money trail to several accounts.
Sources said that a team from Commercial Crime Investigations Department (CCID) was involved in the raid.
They said that the raid was to search for documents related to certain deals linked to 1MDB funds.
They declined to say that if the raid was also police efforts to determine how classified documents were leaked to The Wall Street Journal that were uploaded on its website on Tuesday.
The bank documents purportedly involved the RM2.6bil money trail into the alleged personal accounts of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said on Wednesday morning that the police were conducting various aspects of the investigation into 1MDB, including determining how the documents were leaked to WSJ.
The 1MDB Special Task Force comprises of Khalid, Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.
