Salleh Said Keruak says if BN and PR win with a lesser majority than in 2013 in Rompin and P. Pauh respectively, that would be considered a defeat.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Winning by a reduced majority for either Barisan Nasional in Rompin and Pakatan Rakyat in Permatang Pauh compared to what both parties achieved in the General Election of 2013 is akin to admitting defeat, Salleh Said Keruak has said.

According to the Sabah State Speaker, political observers have already said Barisan Nasional will win the by-election in Rompin today and Pakatan Rakyat, the by-election in Permatang Pauh on May 7.

“But if they win with a lesser majority than in 2013 that would be considered a ‘defeat’, or kalah dalam menang, as the Malays would say.”

Salleh did concede that a win was technically still a win, even if it was by just one vote but added that what BN and PR needed was “an impressive enough majority-vote” that was not too reduced from the last general election.
