PKR survey shows Dr Wan Azizah could lose Permatang Pauh poll

(Malay Mail Online) – A private survey conducted by PKR has revealed the possibility that only 68 per cent of Permatang Pauh’s voters will cast their ballots this May 7, a turnout that could result in the party losing its stronghold seat.

The 68 per cent estimated turnout, announced by Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin (pic) at a press conference here, is a drastic 20 per cent drop from Election 2013’s 88 per cent turnout that saw PKR de facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim soar to an easy victory.

Sim described the survey finding as “worrying”, noting that the May 7 poll could see a repeat of last year’s Teluk Intan by-election, which saw DAP lose their seat to Gerakan.

“Voter turnout, in a new survey, shows that it will be less than 68 per cent,

“This is very worrying because if we have 7,000 outstation voters and Permatang Pauh is a bellwether election.

“If less than 68 per cent, we might see a repeat of Teluk Intan,” he said during the daily PKR press conference at Yayasan Aman.
