(Malay Mail Online) – IGB Corp founder Datuk Seri Robert Tan (pic) was not among the six people killed in a deadly helicopter crash in Semenyih yesterday, the firm confirmed today.

Tan was earlier reported to be on the flight due to confusion stemming from his shared name with Kedah businessman Datuk Robert Tan who was among the six people killed in the incident.

The mix-up was compounded by the fact that the Eurocopter AS365 N2 Dauphin in the crash was owned by IGB Corp.

“We can confirm that Datuk Seri Robert Tan of IGB Corp Bhd was NOT a passenger on the flight,” a company spokesman said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the passengers and crew of the flight.”

Aside from the Kedah businessman, those killed in the crash include Rompin MP Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis; the prime minister’s chief of staff, Datuk Azlin Alias; Cliff Fournier, the pilot and owner of Chempaka Aviation; Aidana Baizieva; and bodyguard Razakan Seran.

According to information provided by the Royal Malaysian Air Force, the helicopter was en route from Kuantan to Sungai Besi when it crashed at approximately 4.55pm yesterday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has since ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.
