Tuan Ibrahim emerges for PAS presidency


(FMT) – “Hadi will make way for someone like Tuan Ibrahim whom he trusts rather than deputy president Mohamad Sabu.”

Eleven of the 13 committee members of the Kota Baru Division nominated Vice-president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who is reportedly close to party president Abdul Hadi Awang, for the party presidency in the forthcoming June polls to be held in conjunction with its general assembly.

This is the first time Hadi, who has retained the party presidency three times uncontested, is being challenged. He took over from the late Fadzil Mohd Noor.

PAS Kota Baru chief Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah, who is also the party’s deputy election director, said the move was designed to persuade Hadi to opt out, end the war of words between the clerics and professionals in the party and keep it within the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) as the latter group has expressed in so many ways.
