PJ mayor must explain reason for bonus proposal when state government had only approved a 1.5-month bonus.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has asked acting Petaling Jaya mayor Puasa Md Taib to explain the city council’s (MBPJ) proposal to pay up to three months bonus to its staff.

Azmin has summoned Puasa Md Taib, the acting mayor, to explain the “excessive” bonus proposal to the State executive council at its weekly meeting tomorrow.

It is understood the state government had only approved a 1.5-month bonus.

The city councillors voted 12-7 in last Friday’s full board meeting for the bonus payout; and a RM500 increase in allowances for councillors and assistant councillors who are currently paid RM1,500 a month.

All NGO and DAP councillors voted against the bonus while PAS and PKR councillors voted for the bonus.
