(The Star) – The crisis within PAS appeared to have worsened after a group in support of Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang accused central committee member Dr Hatta Ramli as among those conspiring against the party president.

Kuantan PAS Youth Chief Fadhli Ibrahim claimed on Sunday that they possessed evidence in a form of a print-screen of the social messaging service WhatsApp group receiving orders from the Kuala Krai MP to attack Abdul Hadi.

Besides Dr Hatta, he also implicated deputy president Mohamad Sabu, vice-president Datuk Husam Musa, PasMa president Datuk Phahrolrazi Ahmad Nawawi and Muslimat information chief Aiman Athirah Aljundi to be in cahoots to topple the president and the ulama leadership.

“We feel that PAS members should realise that there is an evil attempt to unseat the president, the ulama leadership and take over PAS.

“We also call for those involved in this conspiracy to resign following this expose,” he said, before submitting a memorandum to the party ahead of the central working committee (CWC) meeting here.

Fadhli also said that he had the copies of Statutory Declarations (SDs) to support his allegation, which were later distributed to the press at the PAS headquarters.

The WhatsApp messages attached in the SDs allegedly said that a group named “Hawaii Five-O” claimed that the president had agreed to form a unity government with Umno amid the Selangor mentri besar tussle that had put Pakatan in a bind.

The messages reportedly emerged during the Selangor Mentri Besar crisis which appeared to be condemning Abdul Hadi in his decision to back Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.

The print-screen of the WhatsApp group claimed that Hatta instructed members to defend the two Selangor PAS assemblymen who had declared support for Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Khalid.

“Dr Hatta also instructed the group to damage the credibility of the Syura Council through its secretary Datuk Nik Zawawi Salleh,” according to exhibit C of the SDs.

It alleged that Dr Hatta had defamed the four Selangor PAS executive councillors who chose to stay on with Khalid’s administration after their PKR and DAP counterparts were sacked by the former mentri besar.

Earlier, Abdul Hadi was given a heroes welcome by supporters to the chant ofAllahuakbar ahead of the party’s CWC meeting.

The meeting is expected to discuss the party’s proposal to enact a law which allows Kelantan to implement hudud that has seen strong objection from the party’s ally, DAP.

It is also believed that they would discuss their future in Pakatan Rakyat especially over their public dispute on the Islamic criminal law and the local council elections.

However, it is unsure whether Abdul Hadi will stay on for the Pakatan leadership council meeting, which has been put on hold for months following the mentri besar crisis.

Without his presence, DAP had warned that the meeting would not proceed, to which Abdul Hadi responded that he would only attend if he felt like it, and that he would not take instructions from anyone.

The leadership council meeting is expected to be held at 2.30pm Sunday, and attended by top party leaders from PKR, DAP and PAS.
