PAS will abide by leaders’ decision on Khalid

Selangor PAS chief Iskandar Abdul Samad has dismissed a suggestion that the party must adhere to Pakatan Rakyat Presidential Council’s decision to remove Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
He was responding to PAS Central Committee member Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, who said recently that he would remind party leaders at its Aug 17 meeting of their obligation to abide by the Pakatan decision.
“All PAS leaders need to abide by the decision that will be made by the PAS President and leadership,” Iskandar said in a text message to FMT.
He also said it was normal for PAS leaders to have differences in opinion, but they would usually accept the majority decision.
Speculation is rife that PAS would not support the move to oust Khalid, especially after its president, Abdul Hadi Awang, declared his opposition to it. After Hadi, spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and acting ulama chief Ahmad Yaakob have also openly voiced support for Khalid.
