Ambiga slams Isma for making insensitive remarks
(Kuala Lumpur Post) – Former Bar Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan took her Twitter to slam Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) for making insensitive remarks which she said has provoked hatred between the races.
Ambiga, in a twitter posting, said: “Isma is supposedly made up of professionals. What kind of professionals are these who spew such hatred and racism?”
“Not a single thing they have said promotes peace and understanding,” she tweeted.
Frustrated with Ambiga’s post, an Isma supporter, Amnan Afiq Abd Razak replied: “Speaking about our right as Muslims is racist? Defending our right as a Malay is racist?”
To this, Ambiga responded: “Defending by attacking others is no defence!” responded Ambiga, who is also the former chairperson of electoral watchdog Bersih.
Amnan then asked: “Attacking what? By saying the truth? That is attacking?”
Ambiga: “I have seen no truth so far. No facts. Just outrageous statements. Why are you so scared of everybody?”
Amnan: “Madam, truth can be seen when we choose to see.”
“We are not scared of… We are telling (others) not to provoke our beliefs,” Amnan added.
Recently, Isma has been making headlines with hard-hitting racial remarks.
Latest, its deputy president Aminuddin Yahaya accused DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang of wanting to destroy the Malay race, language and their culture.
“Kit Siang does not have to pretend or hide any longer.
“The fact is, he wants to wipe out (menghapuskan) the Malay race, Malay language and Malay culture. Since the 1960s, he has been against the Malays,” he said.
Aminuddin said this is clear based on DAP’s constitution which champions socialism, an ideology that is in contradiction with Islam, reported news portal Malaysiakini, citing a report by Ismaweb.
“This proves that DAP is anti-Islam,” he was quoted as saying.
The Isma leader also claimed that DAP’s support for the Interfaith Council, Comango and the use of the term Allah by non-Muslims also revealed the party’s “forked tongue”, reports TMT.
