MH370 conspiracy: Bung wants Anwar to prove claim

The opposition leader is accused of capitalising on the MH370 crisis for political gain

(FMT) – Kinabatangan MP Bung Mokhtar Radin today challenged Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim to prove that the government was hiding information on the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

The Umno diehard was reacting to remarks that Anwar made in an interview with The Telegraph, a British daily.

He accused Anwar of using the MH370 issue for political mileage and said he should show his proof at a press conference “if he is confident that the government is hiding something.”

Anwar had told The Telegraph he was “baffled” that Malaysia’s sophisticated radar system had failed to detect MH370′s deviation from its path.

“I believe the government knows more than us,” he said in the interview.

Bung Mokhtar said Anwar’s remarks were “useless” in the authorities’ effort to resolve the MH370 crisis.

He praised the government for its handling of the crisis despite having “no experience in such matters”.

He said the authorities had to ensure the accuracy of every bit of information before disclosing it to the public.

“If they simply release information, other countries will condemn us,” he added.

Umno Cheras chief Syed Ali Alhabshee agreed with Bung Mokhtar that Anwar was trying to make political capital from the crisis.
