Zahid Hamidi: Opposition can go ahead with probe on submarines
(The Star) – The Opposition can go ahead and form a commission to investigate the purchase of two submarines for the armed forces, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
He said the Government had nothing to hide as the purchase was in accordance with procedures set by the Treasury.
“If they want to set it up (an independent commission), then go and set it up,” he told reporters after attending an academic excellence awards ceremony for children of the ministry’s staff at Mindef yesterday.
Ahmad Zahid was responding to Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar who had called for an independent commission to investigate the issue during her adjournment speech in Parliament on Monday.
