DAP MP’s aide took RM18k kickbacks?
Independent MP Tan Tee Beng accuses Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching’s assistant of taking RM18,000 in kickbacks.
(FMT) – A personal assistant of DAP-Serdang MP Teo Nie Ching has been accused of being involved in corruption. Independent Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng alleged that Teo’s assistant, Chan Hung Guan, had collected as much as RM18,000 in kickbacks since 2009.
Armed with documents, he said that a “secret agreement” had been made between Chan and an unnamed landlord, who rented out his Cheras premises to Teo since 2009.
Half of the RM1,000 monthly rent paid by the Selangor state government, Tan said, would be handed by the landlord to Chan.
“There was a secret arrangement that after the money was paid to the landlord, there would be a kickback of RM500 back to…Chan Hung Guan,” the former PKR MP told reporters.
He said that “a friend” of the landlord’s complained to both the Menteri Besar’s Office and the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) to no avail.
Asked how he came about this information, Tan said he was known for exposing alleged Pakatan Rakyat wrongdoings, and that the landlord’s “friend” came to him in this confidence.
He said that according to the friend, the landlord had complained about the supposed kickbacks.
According to Tan’s copy of a letter addressed to Selcat, Chan had been receiving RM500 in cash every month in 2009.
In 2010 and 2011, however, the landlord had to hand over a RM500 cheque to the Serdang MP’s offce every month.
Tan then asked Teo to meet with him in Parliament over the matter, and challenged her to investigate Chan.
