IGP: No report lodged over disappearance of presenter
(The Star) – The police have yet to receive any report on the disappearance of Radio Free Sarawak (RFS) presenter Peter John Jaban (pic), 48, who was “whisked” away by three men in a brown Proton car in front of Tamu Muhibbah, Miri, Thursday morning.
“I have directed the Sarawak Commissioner of Police, Deputy Comm Datuk Acryl Sani, to look into the matter,” Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said after launching the Police Excellent Children’s Training Programme at the Bukit Sentosa Police Training Centre, Rawang, Friday.
He urged the public not to speculate on the case based on online reports and let the authorities conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
Jaban was in a car being driven by Miri PKR branch chairman Dr Michael Teo when it was claimed that they were forced to stop along the road in front of Tamu Muhibbah in the city centre at about 11.15am.
Dr Teo said they had to stop when their car was flagged down by another car, a brown vehicle with three unidentified persons in it.
He claimed Jaban went out of the car with all his bags and met one of the men, spoke with him and then just got into the car and left.
“I am not sure what happened. Everything happened so fast,” said Dr Teo.
