Zaid denies reports, says Kita dissolution on track
(The Malaysian Insider) – Datuk Zaid Ibrahim tonight denied media reports that he had withdrawn his decision to dissolve Parti Keadilan Insan Tanah Air (Kita).
The party president told The Malaysian Insider that the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to dissolve Kita would go ahead as planned, as announced previously in his blog.
“I don’t know where you heard this story (about a withdrawal) from. As I said in my blog, it (dissolution) will be tabled during (the EGM),” he said tonight in a phone call to the news portal.
“Nothing’s changed. If anything, I will let you know, okay?” he added.
The Malaysian Insider quoted a Sinar Harian article earlier today as saying that Zaid has decided to withdraw his decision to dissolve Kita.
According to Malay daily’s online article, the politician informed several Kita state chapter chiefs of his decision through a senior party officer.
“I received a call around 8am today. The party coordinator officer contacted me to inform me of Datuk Zaid’s new decision to not dissolve the party. An extraordinary general meeting (EGM) will not be held,” Johor Kita chief Dr Mohd Zaid Mohd Yusof was quoted as saying by the website.
Dr Mohd Zaid added that his party welcomes the decision, as there is no reason for the dissolution in the first place.
Attempts by this news portal to confirm Sinar Harian’s report were unsuccessful at the time.
