Anwar Ibrahim alleges sex video masterminded by PM

(Zeenews.com) – Malaysia’s opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, embroiled in a sodomy trial and allegations of sexual misconduct, has alleged that a sex video showing a prostitute and a man resembling him having sex, was masterminded by Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor, a newsreport said on Sunday.

Anwar, 63, who is adviser to the opposition People’s Justice Party and an MP from Permatang Pauh, also linked the video production to Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, ‘Star’ newspaper reported.

The secretly filmed video, which was shown to a few journalists by a former chief minister of Malacca state and two other men, has taken the country by storm while Anwar, father of six children, has denied being the man in the video and filed a police complaint.

He also dismissed reports that his wife, Dr Wan Aziza, who is the president of the People’s Justice Party, had wanted to view the video.

Anwar was quoted by the ‘Star’ newspaper as saying that his wife had never watched pornography in her life and was not interested in viewing the sex video.

“She has never seen smut all her life and she has reiterated that she is not interested in watching the video concerned,” the paper quoted Anwar as saying.

Wondering why people behind the video were not arrested he claimed that this showed that the “video is a political ploy to smear me”, Anwar made these remarks after handing out aid to storm victims at an event yesterday.

He also denied allegations that his wife and daughter, Nurul Izzah, were turning their backs on him.

“My wife and my children are firmly behind me. This campaign is to tarnish my reputation,” he said.

Former Malacca chief minister, Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik, and two other men Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Shuaib had invited a group of journalists and selected people to view the video on March 21.

Abdul Rahim had said on Friday that Dr Wan Azizah had wanted to watch the video and had asked that it be delivered to her personally.

He refuted claims by Anwar that she did not want to watch the video as it was “haram dan berdosa” (unlawful and sinful), the daily said.

Anwar is also embroiled in an ongoing sodomy trial where a 23-year-old former aide has accused the opposition leader of sodomising him in a condominium in June 2008. Anwar has denied the charges.

Meanwhile, his daughter Nurul Izzah, who is also a member of Parliament, told an online news portal that she was very upset when her father was accused of being in a sex video with a female prostitute.

“In some ways, what’s happening is reminiscent of the events of 1998. It is not something I would wish for anyone,” said Nurul Izzah, referring to the time when Anwar was sacked by former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad from Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister posts following allegations of sodomy.

She alleged that Malaysians had been distracted from issues of political reform before and that the current government administration was “too sexually-fixated”.

Another politician, Zaid Ibrahim, of Kita party has said that the Government should quickly establish the authenticity of the sex video and suggested that it should get foreign help to do so.

Zaid said dragging the issue too long would also be unfair to Anwar.
