KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 — The Teoh Beng Hock Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) will urge the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to provide its internal inquiry documents on the death of the DAP aide.
MACC lawyer Datuk Seri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told the RCI today that he will meet the anti-graft agency’s commissioner Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohamed tomorrow to request the documents.
“I’m hopeful I can impress on them to release it,” said Shafee at the inquiry today.
Shafee said on Monday that the MACC internal inquiry had revealed no disciplinary breaches among its officers on the 14th and 15th floors of Plaza Masalam.
“The conclusion is they have absolved all these matters from criminal responsibilities or disciplinary conduct,” Shafee had said.
Teoh’s body was found on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam after he was questioned overnight by MACC at its then Selangor headquarters on the 14th floor of the same building.
Teoh, 30, was the political secretary to Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah at the time of his death on July 16, 2009.
The young man was the main witness in MACC investigations against his boss for abuse of state funds.
MACC senior enforcement officer Azian Omar testified on Monday that Abu Kassim had warned her against covering up the truth when he came to the Selangor MACC office, shortly after Teoh’s body was found.
“He said ‘reveal the truth. Don’t hide anything’,” Azian had said.
