Taib: Sarawak BN ready to meet PM Sunday

(Bernama) – KUCHING, Feb 3 — All Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen in Sarawak will submit detailed reports on their respective constituencies during a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak this Sunday said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Abdul Taib who is also Sarawak BN chairman said though every constituency has its own problems and challenges, there would be efforts to try and solve them collectively, although not all can be solved immediately.

“There are many problems faced by the constituencies, we have done what we can and we will continue to do what is needed,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year Open House organised by Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sarawak (SUPP) here today.

Abdul Taib said feedback was gathered by the respective state assemblymen from grassroots leaders since last year before preparing their reports.

During the 2006 Sarawak state election, BN won 63 of the 71 seats contested.

Najib is expected to arrive in Miri on Sunday and top on his agenda would be the meeting with Sarawak BN state assemblymen at a leading hotel in Miri before attending the national level Chinese New Year celebrations at Dataran Kipas, Miri.

Political analysts have predicted that the general election and the Sarawak state election could be held simultaneously.

Earlier reports have also claimed that Abdul Taib too had not ruled out such a prospect since the state election must be held before July, 2011. — Bernama
