Najib says Felda still worth billions

Datuk Seri Najib Razak moved today to quell speculation that Felda was in financial trouble, saying the land agency was “rich” and not bankrupt.
Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers have claimed that the federal land agency was facing financial troubles, and have consistently attacked the government’s management of Felda settlers’ funds, through opposition mouthpieces like Harakah Daily and Suara Keadilan. Today, the prime minister accused PR of being liars and “traitors” to the Malay race, going through great pains to allay fears of Felda’s monetary woes.
“Do you want to know the second biggest lie in the country made by the opposition, after their so-called promise of taking over Putrajaya on September 16, 2008? It’s their claims that Felda is bankrupt.
“I tell you now, if we were to liquidate all the shares in Felda in Bursa Malaysia, do you know how much Felda is worth? RM 4.3 billion,” Najib said to a rapturous response from 4,000 odd Felda settlers.
