Today is May Day or Labour Day, a public holiday in most parts of the world as recognition of the workers’ contribution to their respective nations. In the revolutionary context, it signifies the triumph of the working class against the bourgeois. This class struggle would be meaningless if, in the end, the country’s economy and justice system is manipulated and abused by the very people who are entrusted to guard it. Examples are aplenty.

France is investigating the corruption scandal surrounding several arms deals especially the submarine sale to Malaysia. The same submarine deal that brought death to that Mongolian beauty Altantuya Shaaribu who was C4’d to pieces. The same submarine that could not submerge and remain under water!
In a shameful trial, the main perpetrator, Razak Baginda was acquitted and instead some low ranking Unit Tindakan Khas (UTK) junior officers were made to be the fall guys and convicted for her murder. Razak Baginda hastily shipped out the country purportedly to pursue his studies. If the truth be known, it is to keep low out of radar for the Malaysian public to forget about this. Should the Malaysian public forget that AG Gani Patail had directed that no appeal be pursued as it was said that there was no prima facie evidence against Razak Baginda as he was acquitted without his defence being called?
