Replies by A Malaysian and Anak Kelantan that did searches/investigations of their own regarding P. Kamalanathan’s degree.
The date 25/11/2003 shown as conferral date is really odd in that according to the information here http://www.universitiesaustralia.edu.au/documents/universities/semester_dates/avcc_2004.pdf
Edith Cowan University started their 2004 summer semester on 1st December 2003. So maybe that’s why there’s only one case for 25th November 2003?
The page http://www.universitiesaustralia.edu.au/content.asp?page=/universities/semester_dates/index.htm only shows earliest 2004.
I looked at both 2004 and 2005 for ECU and it seems that
19/11/2004 Semester 2 exams end (Friday)
29/11/2004 Summer Semester 2005 starts. (Monday)
Between 2005 and 2006
25/11/2005 Semester 2 exams end (Friday)
5/12/2005 Summer Semester 2006 starts (Monday)
Seems to be a one week break before the start of Summer Semesters and 25/11/2003 (Tuesday) is within the one week break before 1/12/2003 (the start of summer semester 2004). My guesstimate is that 21/11/2003 is the semester 2 exam date for 2003 (not verified!).

Dear editor(s) at MT,
I read with deep interest on this topic
Out of curiosity, I visited https://simo.ecu.edu.au/ecudev_calprod/ecu_graduates.jsp
Sent in the below queries:
Surname TAN, Title communications and year 2003 to 2004 and got this
2004100301 | Chiez How TAN | Bachelor of Communications | 24/05/2004 |
2004100394 | Hock Sim Judy TAN | Bachelor of Communications | 24/05/2004 |
with Surname LIM, Title communications and year 2003 to 2004, and found
2004100289 | Su Min LIM | Bachelor of Communications | 24/05/2004 |
Seems that the parchment numbers are not assigned in sequence, but are close together for the same date.
As 2004100372 is near the above numbers, the date of the ‘questioned certificate’ seems odd.
Another issue is that Conferral date never appeared to be November in all the searches that I did with the common surnames LIM, TAN, LEE, CHAN.
Regards,
A malaysian

RPK’s previous post about Kamalanathan’s degree authenticity sure has sparked many debates among the MT commentators.
Convinced that I am not just a blind follower, I did a 45 minutes research on Kamalanathan’s certificate. This is what I found:
First, please take a look at the conferral date on his certificate carefully (bottom right corner, just below the Edith Cowan Universitys’ seal). It clearly states that the conferral date was on 23rd January, 2004.
So, what’s wrong with it?
For starters, go to this link. https://simo.ecu.edu.au/ecudev_calprod/ecu_graduates.jsp
Put P.Kamalanathan/P.Panchanathan for the family name section, and then Bachelor for the Award Title. You can narrow the search by choosing let’s say 2003 – 2005. Click search.
His name will appear shortly. It sure looks legitimate to anyone who sees it.
But…
Take a look at the conferral date on the result page. It states that the conferral date was on 25th November 2003! The date on the certificate totally contradicts the date shown on the website! Why is this happening?
I won’t make any accusations on any party without any proof. Maybe it is just a mistake made by the university staff, or maybe…
But, it doesn’t hurt to see it once again, right?
