The Razor Blade Mystery
There is something terribly suspect in Raja Azman’s recent tragic incident. As I know it, razor blades, hammers, guns or any sort of weapon and sharp objects are not allowed in any lock ups and prisoner cells throughout the world. Some lock ups and prisons even ban ropes and belts. The fact that Raja Azman could get his hands on a razor blade or some razor blades alone is already baffling. Especially when he was alleged to have been in a punishment cell meant for one; but shared by five people; when this incident happened.

If a prisoner needs a shave, hair cut etc, they would be brought to a special place just for that purpose. A razor blade is a contraband item in a prison. Hence, how did Raja Azman manage to get a razor blade or some razor blades to kill himself?
The only explanation is either these blades were smuggled in, or it was left there on purpose by the people who have the authority to bring it in, in the first place. If it were the latter, then RPK’s theory would stand. After pushing Raja Azman’s mind to the brink, these people left those blades there. Knowing full well that he will kill himself with it. It would also explain the mystery of RPK’s Sungai Buloh’s house being broke into less than 2 weeks ago, whereby the trespassers left blades, knifes and scissors scattered about. It was nothing less than a message, a threat, about this latest incident coming to pass.
If it was the former, then it was smuggled in. He or she, the smuggler, would be someone who have access to the world outside, and the authority to walk about freely in the prison compound to smuggle the blades into Raja Azman’s cell. It can be one of the prison guards or other 4 inmates in his punishment cell, which would have gotten it from a prison guard anyway. What about Raja Azman’s lawyers? Could they have smuggled such a blade via their legal brief? Possible. A small razor blade can easily be concealed. It also depends on when was the last time Raja Azman met his lawyers, and was there any exchange of documents etc prior to this incident. The trial is still ongoing, by the way.
However, I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to smuggle those blades just for RPK’s son to kill himself. Such a smuggler, if existed, would be in law an accomplice to suicide and can be charged as so. And I do not believe any prison guard nor any lawyer would smuggle such an item out of pity towards Raja Azman. Do you really believe that these people would smuggle the razor blade in then say to Raja Azman, “I pity your condition. Here, take this blade. Go and kill yourself. Release yourself from this world.” Then again, stranger things have happened before.
But the more pressing question that may shed some light on the above theories would be, why would Raja Azman try to kill himself? Cold turkey? Hardcore drug addicts would not need razor blades or any weapon to fight their addiction while in cold turkey mode. Banging their heads on the wall would suffice. Ask any person handling drug addicts and they will tell you the cell alone is a weapon to any drug addict suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Hence, they would tie them up to their beds while going through such a process.
The fact that Raja Azman was not tied up in such a manner, nor was he in any aggressive mode when he was brought to trial in court, showed that he was not in any cold turkey mode at all. Something else must have triggered this sudden suicidal act. Something that happened between the last time he was brought to court till now when he was admitted to the hospital for this incident. Something really terrible that not only made Raja Azman think that a suicide attempt was justified, but the person who left or smuggled the razors also believed suicide was the only way out.
Some allege this was not suicide at all, but murder cloaked as suicide. They tortured him, broke his mind and left the blades knowing full well he would use it upon himself.
Or was it torture gone awry? There you have Raja Azman, mind already demented from whatnot, asking his torturers to just get it over with, just kill him he challenged, and one of his torturers chided, “You really want to die? Here, take this razor blade, kill yourself!” And to their horror, Raja Azman did just that. Was this what really happened?
No one knows for sure what really happened except Raja Azman. And so far, we were told via his lawyers, his suicide attempt was made voluntarily. He couldn’t stand the physical and mental torture meted out to him any longer. Hence, the suicide attempt. And he acted alone.
But the facts so far does not agree with this last statement. He did not act alone. A razor blade could not have mysteriously appeared out of thin air and placed itself in his cell. It is also a contraband item, something you won’t find common in any lock up nor prison cell. The only logical explanation is someone and somebody put it there. And they put it there knowing he would use it. It was surely not just for any decorative purposes. Raja Azman, whatever he thinks or believes, could not do this alone.
He had ‘help’.
