PKFZ: More people to be charged
(Bernama) — More people are expected to be charged in court over the controversial Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) project including “big fish”, said Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
He said another individual would be charged in connection with the case on Monday.
“But it does not mean only four will be charged, the investigation will certainly will be going on and this is only the beginning,” he told a press conference in his office here on Thursday.
Also present were Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner Datuk Abu Kassim Mohamed.
Earlier today, former Port Klang Authority (PKA) general manager Datin Paduka O.C.Phang and two others were charged at the Klang Sessions Court in connection with the case.
The other two were Steven Abok, chief operating officer of Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd, the turnkey contractor of the project, and architect Bernard Tan Seng Swee of BTA Architect, the project consultant.
Abdul Gani said there were lots of issues involved – legal and factual, which were not only complex but required substantial amount of manhours of evidence gathering.
Asked whether the investigation included “big fish” and “small fish”, Abdul Gani said in this matter there were “big fish” or “small fish” as everyone of them were “big fish.”
“So everybody has been investigated including politicians, lawyers and government officers,” he said without elaborating futher as to number of people being investigated.
Abdul Gani said other offences being investigated related to the included money laundering, corruptions and abuse of powers.
