The Perak Debacle
There is only one victor today and that is Pakatan Rakyat.
There is only one loser today and that is Barisan Nasional.
Why Pakatan Rakyat won
Well Pakatan won because Perak continues to be in crisis. Right now, the Government and the media machine is saying that Ganesan is the Speaker, people can counter and say how could Ganesan be the speaker if the proceedings had not been officiated by HRH Raja Nazrin.
Of course, if BN reconvenes to take a vote on Ganesan, then it just serves to show that the intial vote was suspect.
The truth is, after the last 24 hours , the case for a fresh election is much stronger than it was a day ago.
The second thing has to be with the Perak issue. The Perak takeover continues to be a lightning rod for the Government, and genuinely keeps the temparature at boiling point. Any political strategist would tell you, knowing what PM Najib knows now, of course he would not have advocated the takeover as what had happened. Well, he screwed up.
Even worse, the Perak issue continues to drag away attention from rescuing the economy and weakens PM Najib's position. Without urgent CPR, our economy will continue to be in the doldrums.
Unemployment will creep up and so will crime. With the police appearing to be diverted to handle political crisis as opposed to criminal crisis, the population gets even more restless. I would venture out to say, that any victim of crime will immediatly blame the Government.
The only way to rectify this situation is a fresh election.
